Collagen Deluxe retinol skincare: day and night creams
Two creams with retinol and hydrolysed marine collagen: their shared ingredients, differences and how to interpret studies of a different retinol cream.
01 · What do the creams have in common?
Collagen Deluxe combines retinol, hydrolysed marine collagen, aloe vera, vitamin E and shea butter. These ingredients form the shared foundation of the day and night creams, with different oils and other ingredients added to each formula.

This overview is based on the day and night cream descriptions. It is not the complete INCI list. Check the ingredients and instructions on your own packaging.
Without a stated concentration and comparative testing, the names “day” and “night” do not tell us which cream is stronger.
↑ Back to contents03 · Collagen Deluxe Day Cream
The day cream combines the range's shared foundation with jojoba oil and bisabolol. It is an option for those who prefer a cream-based skincare product.
Consider the full formula and your existing routine. The presence of oils and butter does not automatically make a product suitable for every person with dry or sensitive skin.
04 · Collagen Deluxe Night Cream
The night cream description lists niacinamide and buriti oil among its ingredients. Like the day cream, it contains retinol and marine collagen.
Niacinamide is a separate cosmetic ingredient; it is not part of the collagen molecule. A different formula also means that the night cream may not suit everyone who tolerates the day cream.
If you are new to the range, assess your skin's tolerance of one product before introducing another.

05 · How to include the creams in your routine
| Situation | Practical approach |
|---|---|
| I have not used retinol before | Introduce one product gradually, following its instructions. |
| I already use a retinol serum | Consider your entire retinol routine before adding a cream. |
| I want both the day and night creams | Both contain retinol. Applying retinol twice a day is not automatically the goal. |
| My skin is significantly irritated | Stop using the product and consult a dermatologist as appropriate to the severity. |
General retinoid guidance recommends gradual introduction, moisturising and sun protection. Follow the instructions for the particular daytime product; if they are unclear, check how it should be used.

↑ Back to contents06 · Do you need a separate serum?
Alongside Collagen Deluxe, the Swedish Nutra RETINOL range includes a day cream, night cream and separate serum. It is a different product range, so do not assess its ingredients using the Collagen Deluxe comparison table.
A serum is not a compulsory addition to a cream. Before choosing another product, consider what you want it to add to your routine and whether it overlaps unnecessarily with products you already use.
↑ Back to contents07 · What did the Swedish Nutra Retinol Cream studies report?
Swedish Nutra AB summarised two separate UK studies: an instrumental study, AN3914 , using VISIA® imaging under dermatological supervision, and a consumer study, AN2332 , based on home use and self-assessment.
Instrumentally measured finding
After 8 weeks, VISIA® measurements recorded a statistically significant decrease in brown spots (p < 0.05). The mean fell from 198.0 to 190.9, approximately 3.6%; 9 of the 12 participants had fewer brown spots at the end of the study.
Consumer self-assessment after 4 weeks
After four weeks, 93% of respondents reported smoother-looking and smoother-feeling skin, 92% more hydrated skin, 87% a brighter appearance and 84% a more even tone. 80% subjectively reported that lines and wrinkles looked smoother or less noticeable. These percentages represent participants' self-assessments, not clinically or instrumentally measured results.

↑ Back to contentsAn open-label study without a control group cannot reliably separate the effect of the product from other influences. A statistically significant change alone does not establish its cause or practical importance. The numerical information in this section is taken from the supplied summary; the full study reports were not available for this review.
08 · Topical skincare versus oral collagen: which studies apply to which?
KINGRAY Academy discusses research on topical skincare as well as orally consumed hydrolysed collagen. These involve different products, methods of use and study protocols. Results cannot automatically be transferred between these groups.
What was instrumentally recorded for Retinol Cream?
AN3914 recorded a statistically significant decrease in brown spots after 8 weeks (p < 0.05). No instrumentally measured improvement in wrinkles was demonstrated. The consumer percentages from AN2332 are self-assessments, not clinical endpoints.
Which studies form the Marine Collagen evidence base?
Marine Collagen has a separate evidence base comprising AN3915, AN2331 and SN-2022. The full results, study designs and limitations belong in a separate article about oral collagen and skin, to avoid mixing them with evidence for topical skincare.
09 · Frequently asked questions
Do the Marine Collagen and Retinol Cream studies form the same evidence base?
No. Marine Collagen is taken orally and its evidence base comprises AN3915, AN2331 and SN-2022. Retinol Cream is applied to the skin and its evidence base comprises AN3914 and AN2332. Results from one group cannot automatically be transferred to the other.
Do AN3914 and AN2332 apply to Collagen Deluxe?
No. These studies concern Swedish Nutra Retinol Cream – Anti-Ageing Night Cream, a different formula. Their results cannot be used as evidence for Collagen Deluxe Day Cream or Night Cream.
Do both Collagen Deluxe creams contain retinol?
Yes. Retinol is listed in the descriptions of both the day and night creams.
Is the retinol percentage known?
It was not stated in the information used for this comparison. We therefore do not give a percentage concentration or rank the creams by strength.
Does the day cream replace sunscreen?
No. The word “day” and the presence of vitamin E do not establish SPF protection.
Do I have to use both the day and night creams?
No. Your choice depends on your needs and tolerance. Avoid introducing several retinol products at once, particularly when starting out.
Is Collagen Deluxe cream the same product as a collagen drink?
No. The cream is a cosmetic for external use; the drink is a food supplement.
Can I add a serum from another range?
First check the ingredients and instructions of both products. If you use several retinol products, take their combined use into account.
