Ing. František Kokoš
I have been exploring health-related topics since 2000. My main interest is how the human body maintains its internal balance — homeostasis — and how we can support the conditions it needs to function properly.
Engineering education and cellular energy
My approach to understanding systems was shaped by studying engineering cybernetics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Košice, specialising in automated control systems. This taught me to examine complex systems through their individual processes, interconnections, communication and feedback. Today, I also apply this perspective when studying how the human body functions.
My experience with the thermodynamics of combustion processes and chemical reactions sparked my interest in energy conversion within the body and its cells. I developed this knowledge further through the study of nutrition and metabolism. In 2025, I completed a 150-hour vocational retraining programme in nutritional counselling at Welko, which deepened my understanding of how the body uses different nutrients and energy sources.
Light technologies and device development
I have worked with laser and light technologies since 2008. I am a co-inventor of a Slovak utility model for a nasal applicator for intranasal laser blood irradiation, and the inventor named on a US patent for a device using circularly or elliptically polarised laser light delivered through the nasal cavity. Light has become a working tool, a passion and an incentive to learn more about biological processes.
From 2008 to 2024, I managed the production of three generations of Bioquant medical devices. Working with a quality management system based on ISO 13485 strengthened my emphasis on a process-based approach, documentation, monitoring and accountability for results.
My approach to health
I see the human body as an interconnected whole. I am interested in the relationships between cellular energy, nutrition, microcirculation, recovery and the body's regulatory mechanisms. In my writing, I focus on one central question: What can we influence in our everyday lives to support health and the body's ability to maintain balance?
We do not choose our inherited genetic makeup. However, nutrition, physical activity, sleep and our environment can influence many processes in the body, including some mechanisms that regulate gene activity. Not everything is within our control, but there is considerable scope for meaningful care of our health.
My articles bring together engineering thinking, many years of practical experience with light technologies and knowledge of nutrition. My aim is to explain connections clearly and support informed health decisions. I write from the perspective of an engineer with training in nutritional counselling; my articles are educational and do not replace individual healthcare.
Continuing education and publications
I have also developed my knowledge by attending international congresses and seminars on laser applications, including the EMLA congress in Helsinki in 2010, an EMLA event in Opatija and a seminar in Frankfurt in 2012, and the ISLA congress in 2016.
I am the author of Bioquant semiconductor laser therapy (ISBN 978-80-970512-2-8) and Therapy by light (ISBN 978-80-970512-0-4).
