Vitamin K1 and K2: Differences, Authorised Health Claims and Supplement Comparison
Explore the forms of vitamin K and compare six supplements with declared vitamin K2 by the amount per recommended daily serving. This guide explains claims about bones and blood clotting, along with important medication precautions.
Two authorised health claims for vitamin K
Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting.
Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.
Both claims may be used for foods that meet the conditions for a source of vitamin K. The list does not divide these effects into separate claims for K1 and K2. They do not mean treating osteoporosis, removing arterial plaques or preventing thrombosis.
Example: KINGimmuno 2.0 declares 100 µg of K2 per two capsules. In this guide, the bone claim refers to vitamin K, not the whole blend. The same rule applies to K2 in the GOLD collagen drink.
K1 and K2: what do the names mean?
K1 – phylloquinone: a form found mainly in leafy green vegetables and vegetable oils.
K2 – menaquinones: a group of forms, including MK-4 and MK-7, found in some fermented and animal foods. Cheese content varies; without specific data, we do not describe cheeses as rich sources.
The number in the MK designation is not a quality rating. If the label only states K2, we do not assume MK-7. The selected products below declare K2; this is not a comparison of K1 and K2 effectiveness.
Six supplements compared by vitamin K content
Products are ordered by the declared amount per daily serving: 100, 75 and 50 µg. A higher amount or NRV percentage does not mean a stronger effect or a more suitable product. These are alternatives to compare, not a recommended combination.

Ingredients, directions and precautions →75 µg = 100% NRV
The nutrient reference value for vitamin K used in food labelling for adults is 75 µg. Therefore, 50 µg represents approximately 67%, 75 µg 100% and 100 µg approximately 133% NRV. NRV is not an individual supplement dose recommendation or a safe upper intake limit.
15% of 75 µg is 11.25 µg. However, the condition for a source of vitamin K cannot universally be assessed using any arbitrary serving. For ordinary foods, a significant amount is generally assessed per 100 g or 100 ml; specific rules apply to beverages and single-portion packs. For supplements, we compare the declared recommended daily serving and assess the applicable claim conditions.
µg is not mg: 1 mg = 1,000 µg. Always check the unit on the label.
How should you choose?
- Compare the whole formulation: multivitamins, collagen drinks and capsule complexes contain different additional ingredients.
- Add up overlapping nutrients: vitamin D, vitamin A or zinc may overlap alongside vitamin K.
- Read allergen information and precautions: for fish, soy, caffeine and green tea, consult the specific product label.
- Check the form and daily serving: the amount in the whole bottle is not the daily serving.
Food supplements do not replace a varied, balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily serving. Keep out of reach of young children. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, when taking medicines or if you have health concerns, check the suitability of the specific formulation with a healthcare professional. This guide is not a dosing instruction for children.
Frequently asked questions about vitamin K1 and K2
Are different claims authorised for K1 and K2?
No. The two claims in this guide apply to vitamin K when their conditions of use are met. We do not assign K1 exclusively to blood and K2 exclusively to bones.
Does K2 automatically mean MK-7?
No. K2 refers to a group of menaquinones. We specify MK-7 only where the product explicitly declares it.
Which product in this selection contains the most vitamin K?
KINGimmuno 2.0 declares 100 µg per two capsules, approximately 133% NRV. A higher dose alone does not determine suitability.
Must I always take K2 with vitamin D?
The authorised claims do not establish a universal requirement to combine these vitamins. Follow the label and consider your individual circumstances; if you take medicines, consult a healthcare professional.
Does K2 remove calcium from arteries?
We do not promise this effect for a supplement. The two authorised vitamin K claims presented here concern normal blood clotting and the maintenance of normal bones.
Can I start taking K2 while on warfarin?
Discuss starting, stopping or changing a dose with your treating doctor beforehand. Vitamin K intake should remain consistent; do not remove vegetables on your own.
Is nattokinase the same as vitamin K2?
No. They are different substances. The presence of nattokinase does not itself confirm vitamin K2 content, and vitamin K claims do not transfer to nattokinase.
Can I combine all the supplements compared here?
They are not presented as a combination for joint use. Vitamin K and other nutrients may overlap. Compare the complete formulation and follow the labels.
Sources and comparison method
The information was checked on the English product pages on 19 October 2026. Each card links to the relevant product. We compare declared values, not laboratory measurements or effectiveness. The current label of the specific pack takes precedence. The six-product selection is not the complete range.
