Vitamin A: Compare Supplements and Daily Doses

Compare four selected supplements containing vitamin A: Man, Woman, Morning Glow and Collagen Retinol. Each declares 800 µg of vitamin A per recommended daily serving, equivalent to 100% NRV. Their full formulations and formats differ, rather than their vitamin A amounts.

Authorised claims

These are the six general EU-authorised vitamin A claims. They may only be used for foods meeting the conditions for a source of vitamin A. They do not promise treatment or guaranteed results.

Vitamin A contributes to normal iron metabolism.

Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.

Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal skin.

Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.

Vitamin A contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

Vitamin A has a role in the process of cell specialisation.

Daily serving and NRV

800 µg RE = 100% of the adult EU labelling NRV for vitamin A. RE means retinol equivalents. The NRV is not a personalised dose or an upper safety limit. Man and Woman list 800 µg; Morning Glow and Retinol explicitly list 800 µg RE. Units follow the respective product pages.

Retinol, beta-carotene and skincare: what are we comparing?

The product name Retinol does not by itself confirm a specific chemical form of vitamin A. The checked ingredient lists state vitamin A; verify the precise form on the label or with the manufacturer. Milligrams of collagen are not the amount of vitamin A. An oral supplement is not a retinol cream, and these claims do not promise wrinkle removal or acne treatment.

How should you choose and combine products?

  • Check the complete formulation, allergens and warnings. The same 800 µg does not mean the same product.
  • Two full daily servings from this selection would provide 1,600 µg vitamin A before food is counted. This calculation is not a recommendation to combine them.
  • If planning pregnancy, pregnant or taking retinoid medicines, consult your doctor before starting a vitamin A supplement.

Food supplements do not replace a varied, balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily serving. Keep out of reach of young children. If pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medicines or living with a medical condition, discuss the suitability of the specific product with a doctor or pharmacist.

Frequently asked questions

Which product contains the most vitamin A?

All four declare the same amount: 800 µg, equivalent to 100% NRV per stated daily serving.

Do I need a supplement to reach 100% NRV?

No. The NRV helps compare labels. Food also contributes vitamin A, and the need for a supplement is individual.

Does 12,500 mg on Collagen Retinol mean vitamin A?

No. It refers to collagen. Vitamin A is listed separately as 800 µg RE per 25 ml.

Can I combine Woman and Morning Glow?

This comparison does not recommend that combination. Vitamin A, other nutrients and caffeine would overlap; consider the full formulations.

Is Woman suitable during pregnancy?

No. This multivitamin is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. The name Woman does not override that warning.

Why are KINGman and KINGwoman not included?

The checked KINGman Balance, KINGman Pro, KINGwoman Balance and KINGwoman Vitality products did not declare a vitamin A amount.
