L-Lysine, or just lysine, is an essential amino acid (essential amino acids are the basic building blocks of proteins), which contributes to the acceleration of the healing of cold sores (herpes) and to the reduction of its occurrence in the future.

It contributes to the formation of collagen in the skin. It is an important structural component of proteins, hormones, enzymes, antibodies and cells involved in the body's immune system. It contributes to the absorption of calcium, building bones and muscles, facilitates digestion and speeds up the recovery process.

It also contributes to the fight against hardening of the arteries and subsequent cardiovascular diseases by strengthening the integrity of the vessel walls and contributing to their healing.

The body cannot produce lysine on its own, so it must be supplemented in the diet or with nutritional supplements.
